About
From Humble Beginnings
Tallgrass began as a shared dream among churches of Christ in eastern Kansas and the greater Kansas City area. For years, congregations rented campgrounds for their camps, always wishing for a place to call their own. In 2002, a group of visionary members from several congregations decided to do something about it. A board of directors was formed, fundraising began, ground was broken in 2005, and by 2009 the lodge was complete enough to hold our first camp sessions.
The theme of Tallgrass is “that you may know him better” — drawn from Ephesians 1:15-19.
Ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. (Eph. 1:15-19)
That vision hasn’t changed. We look forward to continuing to serve our youth and community for decades to come.
Mission
To provide a camping experience that helps us know God better, rooted in the teachings of Scripture and the fellowship of the church.

- We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and that he is the only way to salvation and eternal life.
- We believe that the Bible is Gods inspired word that we must follow.
- We believe that we are saved by God’s grace though the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and receive this gift by placing our faith in Jesus Christ and being baptized in his name.
Purpose
To provide a safe, healthy, exciting and challenging wilderness environment to learn how to be disciples of Christ and leaders in the Church.
